Illumination & Inspiration
Led by Pastor Sabra Johnson in Houston, Texas
A promise is a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen. Where important bodies such as governments are involved, such promises generally assume the form of treaties, the provisions of which are accepted as binding on all those participating. Among honest individuals a promise carries with it the expectation that the promisor is both willing and able to fulfill the commitment to the promise, with the undertaking being accepted by the latter on the basis of good faith. God is the greatest promise maker and promise keeper in existence. God always keeps his Word. 2 Corinthians 1:20 NJKV. "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."
The second prophetic promise of the City of Faith Church and Pastor Sabra Harrison Johnson's vision is the promise of illumination and inspiration.
Inspiration and Illumination
There are insights and illuminations to be learned that cannot be learned from the sensuous or carnal mind of the world, but only by the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:6-16. Pastor Sabra Johnson teaches those truths promoting illumination and inspiration. Although worldly wisdom is encouraged and commendable, worldly wisdom is not a direct link to spiritual understanding.
Pastor Sabra Johnson is a God Inspired teacher anointed with an illuminated Word that causes the hearers to not only learn but become inspired to fulfill his and her personal purpose in the earth. God has promised Illumination and Inspiration.
The people of God are the light because His Word is their Illumination (Matthew 5:14 and Psalm 119:105). God has instructed Pastor Sabra Johnson and City of Faith Church to center the ministry and mission of the pulpit around teaching the Word. Proclamation (high energy preaching) is important and vital to the life of the Church; however, it is difficult to authentically celebrate that which you know not or even worse believe not. Teaching (Expository Clarification with an eye towards life application) of the Word allows each to the hearers to connect with the gospel at his and her own spiritual growth rate in a real and authentic manner.
Applying the Vision- Studies indicate that the average adult reads at the 9th-grade level. This accounts for the fact that the popular blockbuster novels are written at the 7th grade level. People like to read recreationally two grades below their actual reading skill. The average newspaper is written at the 11th-grade level, the tolerable limit for a 9th-grade reader. It seems many sermons and messages are communicated at the advanced PHD Christian studies level when 50% of millennials are unchurched and a higher percentage are biblical babes.
City of Faith Church and Pastor Sabra employ many modern visual supports, incorporates modern stories and illustrations while teaching the text through biblical principles and precepts. Pastor Sabra Johnson encourages the faithful to take notes during the teaching as a tool to write the vision and make it plain in their hearts.

The illuminated Word is the forerunner to personal inspiration. Isaiah worked after he worshiped in the illumination of Heaven (Isaiah 6). Sitting under the Word is the forerunner to walking in the greatness of personal purpose in the earth.
Pastor Sabra Johnson teaches the believer has been freed by Christ's sacrifice and that this freedom includes freedom from the law so the believer can freely live in the Spirit (Matthew 11:25-30 Galatians 5:1 Mark 11:12-25).
Favorite illumination texts used by Pastor Sabra Johnson at City of Faith Church are Romans 12:2 (Renewal of the Mind) Colossians 2 (Do not be disqualified by the world) Hebrews 6:1-2 (A Call to Maturity) 1 Corinthians 3 (The Church and its Leaders) Galatians 3 (enslavement to the law is a curse) Romans 7:1-6 (A call to live in the Spirit) Matthew 18:1-6 (The Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven).
